Bayliss, Thomas DEHF c. 1882

This 56 inch ordinary bicycle shows an early pattern of the Duplex Excelsior Hollow Forks (DEHF). It was sold in the Copake auction in 2013. It is in need of a (better) restoration, but I like to use the pictures because it has some very nice details, like the straight handlebars with detachable ends.
First: think away the saddle spring and leather. Then: enjoy the leather covered wooden grips and the very clear pictures of an original rear hub (although they drilled new holes for the spokes....). Also nice pictures of the front double ball bearing. All in all a very desirable bicycle.
Rear forks look solid to me, but may be hollow.
